Cloves are tropical pink flower buds that are picked before they open. Once dried, cloves become the reddish-brown color we are familiar with. Use whole in a beef stew or on a holiday ham. In ground form it is very potent, so be careful to use sparingly.

Common Uses: Ham, beef roast, stews, barbecue ribs, Vietnamese and African cooking.
